Ligia Montes

Why and when did you join the YL FBBC family?
I started YL FBBC in Sept 2014. The reason I joined was because I wanted to get fit and healthy again. I was tired of being over weight. I seriously needed a change. Enough was enough.

What’s the most difficult part of boot camp?
Honestly the only difficult part of boot camp is the soreness, but I push through it every time and stay focused on my goal.

What is your favorite exercise?
My favorite exercise is Burpees (said no one ever) lol. Honestly it’s ropes, running and lifting.

What are some of the positive results that you have seen because of boot camp?
My weight loss and how my body has toned itself. Its unbelievable how that happens with wanting something so bad.

Do you have any pre/post workout secrets?
Bring a positive (can do) attitude along with plenty of sleep and eating healthy.

Why would you refer someone to join YL FBBC?
I recommend boot camp to anybody that doesn’t have a lot of time and wants a full body workout in only 30 minutes. YL FBBC makes working out so much fun! I would show them my accomplishments so they could see how effective boot camp is and how it has transformed my body and my life for the better .

Can you provide a testimonial to your experience at YL FBBC and why it’s been so valuable?!?
Wanting a change and something so bad made me make the best decision and investment of my life. YL FBBC was my encouragement to start, I saw them on Facebook and started following them and was amazed. I took that step and called and here I am, toned and 15+pounds lighter. A better and happier me with confidence that has boosted my self esteem in ways I never thought would happen. Having amazing trainers that are loving, caring and know their stuff, they keep you on your feet. Plus, just 30 minutes gives you the best workouts ever, and your day doesn’t even seem wasted. I love attending 4-7 sessions a week because I’m never bored; I am always surprised by the workouts. You meet great people and make relationships too. I saw my body transform so much in these past few months, and I am loving seeing my results. Everyone around me has seen the change, and I tell them what I’ve done. Now I have 7 people that joined because of what they have seen physically from me and, on top of that, how happy and satisfied I am with YL FBBC. My friends and family I helped join love it just as much as I do! Now that makes me so ecstatic!! You want to challenge yourself?! Then you can join in on challenges they put together every couple of months where you will learn how to eat healthy and clean, and they will coach you through it. I love this place and everyone one that works here! The amazing and wonderful trainers/coaches make this place my home away from home. So you want a new you?! Join YL FBBC because you will see a new and happier you! Keeping a positive attitude will help you through your workouts and your day. Blessed to be part of the YL FBBC family:)Ligia Montes 1024x682 Ligia MontesLIGIA 1024x682 Ligia Montes

Alex we will miss you greatly!!!

Today is a bittersweet day here at YL FBBC. We are so happy and grateful for the amazing effort and work put in by trainer Alex over the last year; but sad she is leaving as today will be here last Monday session! As most of you know, through her 2 year journey with YL Fit Body, elevating her fitness, becoming NASM certified, and teaching boot camp. And now, she has found her true passion in one-one personal training so is off to answer her calling.

Alex – its been a great honor and pleasure seeing you grow and excel here at Fit Body Boot Camp. We value and appreciate all you have done and wish you all the best in the future! Please dont be a stranger!

Lots of love,

~Bryce/Tatiana and the YL Family

Below is a message she wanted to share with all our clients at YL FBBC:

“To all of the clients, it has been a pleasure training all of you and working out alongside you. You are what fuels my passion for this industry and are the reason I decided to pursue my NASM Certification. Your willingness to always work hard and push yourself during even the toughest of workouts is absolutely inspiring. Thank you for always laughing with me and making this the most rewarding experience. Although I won’t be training at Fit Body anymore as I have shifted my focus to more one-on-one personal training, I hope to catch some boot camps with all of you and hope that you stay in touch and keep me posted on your fitness journeys! Love to all and I will sincerely miss each and every one of you!”

Case Study: Leila and Brent

What made you guys decide to join YL FBBC?

(Leila) We first joined YL FBBC in Sept of last year on a 6 week unlimited bootcamp offer that I found on Groupon.  We knew several people who were doing various bootcamps or Crossfit and we were interested in checking them out.  We had gym passes in the past that we used together and at the time we were running and trying to do some strength exercises at home but we’re always interested in trying new things.

Who motivates who?

(Leila) As far as fitness in general, I would definitely say that Brent motivated me because I never worked out, went to the gym, or ran before I met him.  He has always been into fitness and working out so he helped get me into it.  In terms of going to bootcamp and working out on a regular basis, I would say that it’s 50-50 on who motivates who.

Do you enjoy working out together?

(Brent) Yes, it’s awesome to see your significant other put to the test physically and see how much effort they can give. For us, it is the one thing we go through side by side and always have the same opinion, that it’s an extremely tough, butt kicking workout. It’s funny that now working out together is one of the things we enjoy doing the most.  Of course we both still love a good date night!  simple smile Case Study: Leila and Brent

Are you guys both eager to get to YL FBBC or does one of you have to get the other one out the door?

(Brent) We both love going to bootcamp but on that rare occasion when one of us is feeling lazy the other threatens to tie the other to the back of the bumper and drag them along.  Haha.

Why would you encourage other couples to join YL FBBC together?

(Leila) We think it’s a great way to spend time together as a couple and both would be benefiting from an amazing workout.  We also think doing it as a couple is great motivation.  I know I certainly workout and push myself harder when Brent is there because I’m trying to keep up with him.  Heck we enjoy it so much that we’ve made it a family affair a few times when David has done bootcamp with us.

Case Study: Machelle Ready McWhirter

Why and when did you join the YL FBBC family?

I joined YL FBBC in February 2013.  I was ready to push myself to a different level of fitness. I needed more intensity and more cardio, basically needed to revamp what my body had gotten used to.

What’s the most difficult part of boot camp?

The most difficult part of boot camp is remembering to mentally challenge yourself, why not pick up a heavier weight, do one more burpee or hold that plank for just 10 more seconds, because chances are – you can!

What is your favorite exercise?

My favorite exercise is the burpee.  It’s just a fun exercise and a butt kicker.  You can throw it in basically anywhere and change things up.  It’s interesting to see what the trainers will come up with next.

What are some of the positive results that you have seen because of boot camp?

Some positive results I have noticed because of boot camp:  I’m amazed how quickly my body has been changing with boot camp.   The body parts I typically dread aren’t looking so bad anymore.  I’m pretty sure my bat wings arms are making an exit, and my abs – Hey, I think I see something good happening there… Within a few short months, I’ve gotten better results than I have in years of doing anything else.

Do you have any pre/post workout secrets?

I try to follow the pre/post workout tips that YL FBBC recommends when it comes to nutrition.  Although I’m not perfect at it, I know it’s a reference for me when I need it.  Soreness is a real thing, I try to work out 5 times a week.  Eating bananas and taking hot showers usually works for me.

Why would you refer someone to join YL FBBC?

I have referred YL FBBC to several people, my husband first of all who had quintuple bypass surgery a year ago.  It’s imperative for his heart health that he maintains a high intensity cardio routine.  He has been coming since March and enjoys the challenge.

I’m a 42 year old mom of three.  When I hit my mid 30’s is when I noticed things slowing down in my body.  I saw that I would have to try harder than ever just to maintain a normal body weight.  I wished I had known about the principles that YL FBBC has taught me.  High intensity interval training would have whipped me into shape back then, instead I wasted my time on a treadmill or aimlessly wandering a gym, definitely not pushing myself, and the results were evident.  Since I have been at YL FBBC my muscle tone is quite noticeable and my strength and endurance both have increased tremendously.   The trainers do such a great job and are very helpful and encouraging, as are all the other clients working out right alongside you. Everyone is so focused on their own workout, the only person you are competing against is yourself.  Did I mention how fun it all is?  I’m always looking forward to seeing what the workout will be for that day and enjoy the fun extra activities that they put on.  By far, The fitness formula that YL FBBC promotes has been the best thing for my body, producing amazing results. You will soon realize that strong is the new sexy.

Case Study: Maria Santana

1. Why and when did you join the MV FBBC family?

Honestly, I had a wedding to attend and wanted to lose a few pounds so that trying on dresses would be less depressing. I had gained a few pounds since having my son 3 years ago and was feeling very self conscious about my body. Although I wouldn’t consider myself a big person prior to starting boot camp, I definitely felt I needed to do something to feel better about myself. Being that I work full time, am a mother, and a wife I felt finding time for myself was a challenge. Most of all I HATED working out. I had a 24 hr membership I rarely used because I felt intimidated by all the equipment and felt uncomfortable in the gym altogether. I tried yoga for a month or two, which was OK but quickly got bored. Then I figured maybe I’d try working out at home and tried the P90x DVDs. I thought if I worked out at home I would be out of excuses and definitely work out. Well I hated all of the above and gave up altogether. When I found a Groupon deal for MV FBBC this past April, I figured I’d give it a try and have been loving it ever since.

2. What’s the most difficult part of boot camp?
In the beginning the most difficult part was showing up to my first session because I was so nervous about what I would be asked to do. Will I be able to keep up? Are people going to be staring at me? Judging me? Yelling at me? After all, it is called a boot camp. I worked it up so much in my head that I was pleasantly surprised when I showed up and met Emma. She was very encouraging, motivating, and knowledgeable. Now the most difficult part is beating the traffic to get in on time simple smile Case Study: Maria Santana

3. What is your favorite exercise?
Planks or any variation of them.

4. What are some of the positive results that you have seen because of boot camp? Well for starters I found a dress I felt FABULOUS in almost immediately! I received so many compliments about how great I looked and I felt great which was my overall goal. Within 2 months of joining MV FBBC, I lost 3% body fat, more toned defined arms, flatter tummy, and overall more energy and self confidence.

5. Do you have any pre/post workout secrets?
The minute the thought of skipping working out enters my mind I change into my workout clothes and just go. On my way there I remind myself of how great I feel afterward and it works every time. After working out I make sure to drink plenty of water and have a protein shake.

6. Why would you refer someone to join MV FBBC?
It is truthfully the most fun, most motivating, time efficient work out I have ever been exposed to. In 30 minutes you work out your entire body including cardio, to high energy music and you’re done! Voila simple smile Case Study: Maria Santana Emma is exceptional at being a fitness trainer. She is professional, knowledgeable, and always ensures proper form is being performed. No matter how busy your schedule, everyone has 30 minutes to spare to fit in this workout. All the other boot campers are so friendly and encouraging. If you can’t keep up for any reason at all, it’s OK because everyone goes at their own pace. No judgment or egos here!

7. Can you provide a testimonial to your experience at MV FBBC and why it’s been so valuable?!

What can I say…I love boot camp! It’s always challenging, you never do the same workout routine so getting bored is not issue, it’s a quick 30 minute booty kicking work out, it’s fun, and I have seen amazing results with my own body

Case Study: Sonya Richardson

Sonya Richardson is a long time boot camper since we opened. She has continued to get stronger and more fit over the months with us by pushing and challenging herself 4 times per week. Sonya – amazing work on your journey and congrats on your progress!!!

Why and when did you join the YL FBBC family?

I joined YL FBBC almost  2 years ago like most boot campers through a Groupon deal. After entering my 40’s I found it very difficult to lose weight and tone up through the conventional means at my gym.  I sit at a desk in front of 2 screens sometimes up to 9 – 10 hours a day when our company is really busy. I knew that I needed to try something different before I got any older and building muscle was important for me.
What’s the most difficult part of boot camp?

The most difficult part for me is getting to class a few minutes early to warm up.  Sometimes getting off work when I want to doesn’t always happen.

What is your favorite exercise?

It may sound odd but I actually like sprints the best.  Most recently Alex had an obstacle course in one of the sessions that I really enjoyed.  I vote for more obstacle courses!
What are some of the positive results that you have seen because of boot camp?

Definitely more confidence and strength. I have definition in my arms & shoulders like I’ve never had before.  It’s been a few years since I’ve worn a tank top or sleeveless top out in public as I was very self conscious about my arms.
Do you have any pre/post workout secrets?

I wouldn’t say I have any workout secrets pre or post workout.  If I’m having one of those days that I’m feeling meh and it’s right before a workout, I just hear my inner coach giving myself the old “suck it up” speech – No excuses!
Why would you refer someone to join YL FBBC?

Because they will get such a great workout in only 30 minutes of their day and see the changes in their body quicker than all the hours they would spend in a gym like I did!
Can you provide a testimonial to your experience at YL FBBC and why it’s been so valuable?!?

YL FBBC has been such a great experience for me mentally and physically.  It was an eye opener the first time I tried it as I thought this was going to be too tough and no way was I going to last even 30 minutes. I was hooked though and I tell everyone that it never gets easier – you get stronger.  YL FBBC gets me to push myself harder every time and I love seeing how strong I have become through my time here.  I want to thank all the trainers, Tatiana & Bryce for making the workouts fun and all the great support they provide!

Case Study: Alex Dillon

Today we are showcasing Alex Dillon. She’s been with us since near the beginning (initially as a boot camper), has referred all her family and friends, got NASM Certified, just celebrated her 1 Year Anniversary with husband and client Ryan, and is a HUGE DUCKS and CHARGERS Fan.  Not to mention, shes an insanely fit lady and one of our amazing trainers at YL FBBC. Congrats on all your life progress Alex and know we are thankful for all the lives you are changing :–)

Why and when did you join the YL FBBC family?

I joined FBBC about a year ago when I was looking for a way to get back into working out after a back injury from CrossFit. I needed something that would challenge me without being too intense on my body and that I could work around my injury (as well as being more affordable!). I also loved the idea that the sessions were only a half an hour long.

What’s the most difficult part of boot camp?

When I first started, I used to struggle getting through the 30 minute sessions. Now, after pushing myself to be consistent by coming as often as I can and giving it my 100% effort every time, I have built up my stamina and increased my energy so I am able to get the most out of my workout in 30 minutes. I can also do several sessions in a row which I never ever thought I would be able to do.

What are some of the positive results that you have seen because of boot camp?

I have not only lost weight & body fat but see much more muscle definition than ever before. I have more energy than I ever thought possible! Anyone who knows me knows I am NOT a morning person, but once I attended a few of the morning sessions I was hooked on getting my workouts over with in the AM. Working out in the morning gave me so much more energy throughout the day and overall I was just in better moods on those days.

Do you have any pre/post workout secrets?

Foam roll, foam roll, FOAM ROLL! Self myo-fascial release is SO important to your overall performance and recovery. Often times we overlook the importance of stretching and relieving our bodies of the stress we put on them during exercise. Rolling out helps you recover faster, improve flexibility and performance, and decreases your chance of injury during exercise.

What made you interested in becoming a trainer at YL FBBC?

In all honesty, coming to boot camp became the best part of my day. If I couldn’t make it to a morning session, I couldn’t wait to get there for a session after work. Even though the workouts are challenging and some days pushed me to my max, being surrounded by such fun, positive people who were there with the same goals as me made it so addicting. The atmosphere is so encouraging and positive instead of competitive and intimidating. Although I already had a passion for fitness and healthy living, FBBC made me realize that I wanted to be a part of such a fun, energetic, family that wanted to help people change their lives for the better. I am so excited to share this passion with every boot camper and help them reach their goals!!

Why would you refer someone to join YL FBBC?

I have recommended so many of my family members and friends here since I started due to the fact that it is truly made for everyone – young or old, male or female, super fit or just starting out. Everyone is made to feel comfortable, and can adjust their workout to their liking or modifications. The best part is that it is 30 minutes of your day. We are all busy with commitments like work, school, kids, etc. and getting the max workout in the shortest amount of time is what we all strive for!

Can you provide a testimonial to your experience at YL FBBC and why it’s been so valuable?!?

I am so thankful and grateful to now be part of such an amazing team of trainers. Teaching boot camp is so fulfilling and enjoyable and I can finally say I LOVE what I do! My experience here as a client is what inspired me to get in the best shape of my life and to pursue a career that really makes me happy. FBBC has certainly changed my physical health, my mental health, and taken my life in a more positive direction overall. I can’t wait to help every client achieve their goals and want them to know I am here to help with any questions they may have!

Case Study: Alyssa Riggins

I was fortunate enough to meet Alyssa Riggins in early 2013. She was already a fit girl, but looking for an extra kick so wanted to try boot camp out on a 4 week intro deal. I was immediately impressed with her work ethic and then had the opportunity to train her for a handful of months back when there was only 1 trainer at YL FBBC 😉

As we grew, I began looking for a talented trainer in May of 2013 and had made my intention known to hire some talent from Cal State Fullerton. When Alyssa was made aware, she promptly sent me an email requesting that I take her application into consideration as she would love a position as a trainer.

Within weeks, she was Certified as a CPT and then over the next 13 months has been a star here at YL FBBC, training our clients into amazing shape. Alyssa, you are my first formal employee and will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for your work ethic and contribution to our facility. Without you, this wouldn’t be possible. As you have now graduated from college (Chapman) and moved on; we wish you the best and are excited at the opportunity to train you (just as you have trained others) so hope to see your smiling face in YL as a boot camper. We wish you the best of luck and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you :–)

What made you want to be a trainer at YL FBBC?

When I first heard Bryce was hiring a trainer I immediately hoped it could be me. I approached him and we found it to be a perfect fit. I loved boot camp from the first day I started as a client and my love only continued to grow as I became a trainer.

What will you miss the most about being a trainer at YL FBBC?

I’ll miss the one on one interactions I had with the clients. I wasn’t always able to help everyone during every session, but I did the best I could. As a psychology major, I’ve always loved interactions with people and helping them better themselves in any way possible. Everyday that I left fit body after teaching sessions, I had a sense of fulfillment because I loved every second of it. The best feeling was getting compliments after a challenging and well-rounded workout, because I always put so much time and thought into each exercise and all around workout to best fit my clients.

What are your future health/fitness goals?

My future health and fitness goals would be to keep a healthy lifestyle, I don’t want something that is temporary. Health has to be a lifestyle or it will never work. Now that I have more time available to myself, I want to focus more on what works within my new schedule. Meal prepping is something I used to do every night, and I want to get back to that and make it a habit.

What are your plans for the future?

Being a 22 year-old college grad is kind of surreal. I have absolutely no idea what my future holds. I’ve gone back and forth on what I want to do for the rest of my life as a career. Currently I am doing sales at Nordstrom South Coast Plaza and absolutely love it. I get to interact with people daily, which I love, and again make people feel good about themselves…just this time with clothes! I know I will always work in a field where I have interactions with people and am able to help them feel good about themselves. I’m already looking into moving up in the Nordstrom company and have been offered to go through assistant manager classes in the fall J

Any last words???

I’d like to thank all those boot campers that have watched me grow in the last year and a half and supported me in everything. I’ve made a lot of good connections and great friends at boot camp. There are many campers that I miss on a daily basis, but just know that I’m always thinking about you guys! Every now and then, when I’m able to attend a session, I get very excited to see your smiling faces and hear your kind words. Fit body will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish there were 48 hours in a day so that I could continue being a trainer to the best Fit Body Family out there!
